  • Closet seal material

At one time I remember that the toilet seals were made from bees wax. Is this still true or have they changed it to some other material (made in China)?

i had a country boy as a new helper.we pour tar under tubs, for termites.
i told him to get the tar off the truck, he beat an banged for 20 minutes
then came in rollen the spare tire.

the same boy was with me late one evening, i was in a hole trying to fix a leak at the meter.the curb stop was leaking thru. so i handed him a dollar, told him to go next door and get some bread. he came back with a sack full of groceries, bologna, bread, cokes. he said if your hungry, i got a little money, we aint gotta eat just bread!!! well sir ,we sat right there and had dinner. then we fixed the leak

I just came back to this thread and laughed my butt off. But no one ever answered the question as to what the stuff is.

                            Re: Closet seal material

Don't honestly know if it's beeswax or some synthetic simulation thereof.

No-one's ever accused me of being a redneck. I have been charitably described as 'frugal'. I've never made a wax ring from earwax, but I will confess; I commonly tear them up, re-roll them, and reuse them. Not for cost savings, but a) so I don't have to carry a bunch on the van, just a couple for the ones that are too far gone to re-use, and b) because they are so darn stiff when they've sat out in the van overnight in winter (I've been known to chuck them in the microwave for a few seconds to get them in the mood).
This is my reminder to myself that no good will ever come from discussing politics or religion with anyone, ever.

In answer to your question, yes in fact the wax seal is made out of bee's wax. It is the only wax that doesn't support bacterial growth.
