      A pvc male is the first thing that i find cracked or busted.

        Up here all of the plumbers give me a copper female out of the homes for my irrigation line connection. I go directly to ball valves and backflow assemblies but cheaper competition goes straight to female PVC. I don't know what the norm is in the States, but where I'm at, I always get copper females from the plumbers. Easier not to split for me.

                    I always go from Schedule 40 Pvc to schedule 80 nipple then to copper. The Schedule 80 is thicker stronger. If Pvc continues to leak you may have cross threaded or over tightened.
