  • Lavatory faucet Temperture problem

5 years old 2 stories residencial house second floor wash room.

When turn on lavatory faucet on (one handle) hot water come out right after flush toilet.

I have not checked the water pressure but it seems ok.

After flush toilet and turn water on to wash hand, hot water comes out for 10 to 15 second.

Both lavatory and W.C.(6L) are connected 3/8 pipe from 1/2" copper.

I do not think it is normal and I do not under stand why it happens.

    Please let me know.

    Thank you.

if you have any moen faucets you could be getting a cross over between hot and cold,
when flushing toilet the tempory drop in cold causes the hot to cross at the faucet

I worked on my 1st moen 2 handle kitchen sink faucet yesterday and I took the cartridge out and couldn't figure out why it would even be leaking.

Moen's sending the customer a new one at no charge, customer service was real good on a saturday.

Yes! that faucet is made by Moen.

Can you please give me a more detail?

I am not sure what do you mean "you could be getting a cross over between hot and cold"?

            Try this:

Open your faucet, and flush your toilet. Then shut the faucet. Then pull the lid off of your toilet tank and open the faucet and flush the toilet again. Put your hand inside the tank. Is the water coming out warm?

Then do the same thing without the faucet on. If so - then the hot is getting pulled through the faucet and into the cold water water lines in your bathroom.

Turn off the hot side cut off under the lavatory. Flush your toilet. Does the problem still occur? If not, it is as JERRYMAC says, you have hot water crossing over to the cold side through that lavatory faucet. Replace the cartridge and that should solve the problem.
