  • Well pumps

I have a well pump thatcontinues to cut on - off on - off. This is a new meyers shallow well pump system with an 42 gal. Free standing storage tank. After priming and getting water to come up out of the well, the pump continues to cut on -off. The check vavles at well and at the pump have been changed. What haven't i thought of. What is wrong in this system. Pumped out!!

        I'm with JC on this.

Bladder tank is a likely suspect. Check the charge.

        Pressure switch differential is another

What is the gauge telling you when it comes on and shuts off?

if your pump has a little hose going to the pressuretrol, there might be water in there. take the hose off and blow it out.

You surely are having a problem with the pressure tank. Pictures would help at this point. Precharged or Air charge system. The later requires a air volume control valve in the tank. A snifter valve on the inlet line, usually on the inlet port end of the check valve. And a bleed back valve down in the well. Without all of these components, the tank will water log and not accumulate any pressure, causing the pump to cycle wildly. I would bet that you have an air charge system since you mentioned shallow well and 42 gallon tank.
