  • Delta shower faucet sounds like a tea kettle

One of my shower faucets intermittently emits a whistling sound while in use. I can make it go away by turning down the water volume but am just curious what causes it to make the noise?

It is a Delta valve that has the temperature control that is adjusted independently of the water volume. The temp. control is at the center of the lever type handle assembly.

Is this a combination tub/shower? I have noticed many times the diverter on the tub spout will make a whistling noise from the diverter gate. If this is the case, try giving it a wiggle and see if it disappears. I have never seen one of the Delta pull-down diverters make this noise if this is the type you have.
Distractions are everywhere, don't lose sight of your dream.

Nope - just a shower, not a tub combination.

Thanks - Is the model no. on the outside of the unit or on the cast portion behind the shower stall? I might swap the cartridges from the other bathroom and if the problem goes away, then replace the cartridge.
