You need to connect it to an Air Gap first, then to the disposal, otherwise when your sink backs up,

those harmful germs/waste/feces/bacterial contaminates get in your dishwasher and can kill you.

Use an old screwdriver and a hammer. The disposer must be out on the floor to do this. Do not attempt to knock out the plastic plug while the disposer is mounted.
Lay the disposer on a rug or something to protect the floor (I use the styrofoam that was packed with the disposer), place the screwdriver in the dishwasher tube on the side of the disposer and hit it with the hammer a couple of times. The plastic plug will be knocked out into the disposer. Remove the plug out of the disposer before remounting and using.

IPC here, no air gap required, just a high loop in the hose.
knock the plug out and run the drain hose up through a hole in the cabinet up near the countertop.
No, it's not rocket science, it's plumbing and unlike rocket science it requires a license.

Not to argue with you because I know you are right, HOWEVER, I have NEVER seen a dishwasher that was actually hooked up this way. I work on alot of them too.

Don't forget to loop the pipe from the dishwasher and always run the disposal before using the dishwasher. Had our dishwasher backup from a disposal that wasn't cleared.

                You should RTFM.
