  • Sizing Tool for type K soft copper

Has anyone heard of a sizing tool for type K soft copper tubing? The sizers I have are not working because they are for type M copper pipe. I'm supposed to start tomorrow, and have been asking around for a week. Hope someone can help.

You did not say which size but Reed makes 3/4" though 2" re-rounding tools for K soft copper.

I'm fairly certain you can buy them from Toolup.com if you cannot find them locally.

Reed says this tool is useful when using compression fittings. Do you know if it's OK for regular old copper fittings? I am brazing.

Good question and I am not sure. However, re-rounding is re-rounding so it should not matter. You may want to call their customer service in the morning.

Don't waste your money. A crescent wrench will do the same thing. Just size the wrench for the midway (between the flatest part and the round part of the pipe) and rotate around the pipe and keep constant tension to tighten it. Do it all the time for refrigerant lines.

If all else fails take the dimensions you want and take a drawing or a sample to what you want to a machine shop and have them turn you what you want,

I was taught using the same method as above and if you are just soldering works great, the pipe won't care if it is not completely round
I mainly use it where you bend a bit of 1/2 Cu and need to cut it as short as possible and then use the crescent method to get the compression nut to go around part of the bend, If that makes sense.
