    I had a saddle valve like that on my ice maker line when I bought the house. The darn thing started leaking when I turned it off to replace the fridge.

    I replaced it with a tee and ball valve. The soldering was the easy part, getting the threaded connections right was the hard part. The lesson I learned here is that teflon dope is so much easier than the tape.

    Oh, and never trust Lowes to connect the fridge before putting it back. The old one had a flare connection, the new one had a compression fitting. They just put the flare on the compression fitting.
