    Hi,
Can you confirm if I can use 2 1/2 inches vent pipe in Canada. Canadian plumbing code charts uses 1 1/2, 2, 3, ... inches but not 2 1/2. If yes, is is available easily on the market?
    Thanks

You should be able to use any piping that meets the minimum requirements of your code and installation.

Ex: If minimum requirements are 2.5" calculated to cover your fixture load then there should not be a reason that you couldn't use 2.5" even though it is not known as industry standard.

Somtimes calculations for sizing can come in between the typical used materials.

In the 1995 plumbing code, the charts include 2 1/2" pipe. As far as availability , I have never seen any 2 1/2" at any wholesalers.

we deal with an engineer who loves to spec 2.5" pipe as a waste line size. we always end up getting an addendum to upsize, what a PITA.
No, it's not rocket science, it's plumbing and unlike rocket science it requires a license.

2.5" vent is still on the state journeymans quiz here.

Last I checked when you can find 2 1/2" it's a lot more expensive than 3".
