  • ring down a toilet

my farther in law was over to day and lost his ring [ he is very very old ] and when he went to the bathroom and clogged my toilet my wife used a plunger to clear it .then about an hr after he said he lost his ring .
1 question is if he did drop it in and it went past the toilet trap how long will it take to go 50 ft of cast iron pipe before the house trap
2 i sucked out the house trap and nothing in there but some cast iron chips .
would it have made it past the house trap ?
we have a grinder tank and if it was to get that far it might be sitting in the bottom

    what do you think

There's no problem. It will only cost about $5800.00+.

Averages about $500.00 an hour. Or was it flat rate? Should you increase/decrease your rates?

charlie, if the ring made it down the toilet and into the cast line, it will stay put for a long time as long as you don't use too much paper and water.

best bet is to stop using that area and get a good camera person with a locator. sorry, but i'm in san diego for the next 2 days

you should be able to spot it and locate the area. either cutting it out or flushing it forward with the camera will be the answer.

call me if you need to talk about the process.

i think if the ring got hung up with all the paper he tried to flush ,then when it was plunged it may have made it out of the pipe . then if it made it through the house trap it is sitting at the bottom of the grinder pump tank .
i dont think the ring was worth anything so im not going to have some one look in my pipes ,but it would be nice for me to get one of the new cameras
