  • Garbage disposer problem

I replaced my garbage disposer and in the prosses I had to lower the drain to compensate for the different drain height on the new disposer. It was a pain since I had to cut out the old galvanized drain pipe, put in new plastic pieces with about a 2 inch lower drain height etc. to adjust to the new lower drain height of the disposer. But it didn't drain well... it was slow. The distance from the garbage disposer drain to the point in the drain where there is a vent pipe is only about 2 feet. So, then I added one of those under-the-sink in-line drain vents think it might help but it didn't help, possibly made things a little bit worse. How can that be? Why should I be having a problem with a slightly slow gurgling drain? Maybe I should just move or is there an easier solution?

Sounds like you need a plumber.

        very simple problem

you cut out an old galvanized line with a sawzall. the vibration jarred all the crud in the pipe loose and is lodged in the pipe below.

instead of trying to fix the vent, snake out the line.

        that's your problem
