    Chief there should be a wide spot in the slot the bolt goes through.

    on a side not thinking of all the times I had to cut a tub drain to snake the line clear....

        Glad you got everything working with the tub. Why didn't you use a shielded coupling like others mentioned before? (No hub band, MJ band, proflex etc.) Not to nitpick or anything. Those fernco fittings are allowed where I live but I much perfer to use a shielded coupling. Practice installing them on a scrap as Rick mentioned in another post and you will learn to love them. They have so many uses and can really help you out in a jam.
