Easiest way is leave the stopper in and flood the sink with HW and some disinfectant and let it drain through the overflow. Seems the simplest way to get something down there.

I wonder about some obstruction inside the overflow, maybe a loose piece of clay or some other crud left over from casting, or some other obstruction inside the tube that causes air to accumulate then gurgle out pushing a slug of water ahead of it as someone else (was it BHD?) said earlier.
I use a kitchen baster to shoot bleach into the over flow holes about every 6 months. takes care of the nasties in there.

No one here has ever seen a sink do this before?

How does this thread not get nominated then?

jim, bill owes me the milkshake

the overflow casting is most likely a small 3/8'' passage. we all know that an overflow acts as a vent / relief vent for a lav sink. on sinks that don't have overflows, such as the glass bowls, they don't drain as fast since they tend to create a vacuum lock.

so the issue here is the overflow is trying to breath, but the drain/ tailpiece is creating a positive pressure and spitting the trapped water out of the overflow.

real question is why only this sink? he's already replaced that sink, yet the other 10 identical sinks are ok.

bill have you taken an air hose or vacuum to the overflow and verify a decent nasal passage

bill, we'll recreate this in you hotel room this week.

then you can buy me my shake

Better yet, have the manufacturer's rep come out and break the sink. If it's bad, send him the bill for your time (and ours too).

I wish I had more time to stay and play with the puking sink but I don't. Other things in my life are taking priority at the moment.

TBH, I should say that the other 10 households are not currently complaining of this. That doesn't mean they arn't doing it to some extent. I was only there doing the rough-in when things were slow.

                No, it's not a prank....fuuurrreal!!

                Here's another shot.

See how the sink gets about an inch or 2 of water then you can hear it gurgle befor it starts to pop out.

I certainly hope this is repaired prior to the Roundup as I know how mean some of these members can be. I would hate for Joey to call you a in front of everyone.
