in the country realm i'd have to say Roy Clark or very very early David Allen Coe, before he beame a total a$$wipe.

also Ray Benson of Asleep At The Wheel, Ray Wylie Hubbard and of course Bob Wills

one of my all time favorites was Arthur Fiedler. he fronted a killer band known as the Boston Pops

I was kind of joking some of the names I have never heard of but their groups or songs I would probably recognize. I like most kinds of music and there are some great classic rock out there. Who does't like some Led Zeppelin, Metalica, Stones, Creedence, Aerosmith...... But I do mostly like country.

I grew up listening to gospel music and beach boys

ok dan....best country frontman, bar none, is johnny cash. close second is willie nelson.

forgot some, bob marley, marylin manson and trent reznor(nine inch nails). manson, love him or hate him, he could work a crowd to do what he wanted it to.

David Lee Roth In 1980/81 VH were kings of the arena rock game.
                        GG Allen and
Phil Anselmo were great in that 'off the meds again' category.

There used to be a band with this amazing singer and frontman, the band was Life Sex and Death,The singer was frequently tossed from clubs during soundcheck
because the staff usually mistook him for a crazy homeless guy!

gg allen, wasn't that the guy who you start fist fights with the crowd, perform naked and take a **** on stage? nasty guy. i think he took himself out with heroin.

When he was around ,and before his name got around
He was on a "Bands That Allow Taping" list.
The list went on that he allowed taping
and "If he asks to stay at your house SAY NO!"

Billy never was a true frontman in the sense we're talking about.
Jagger only in the later years. in the pre-80s he was a singer and never really fronted the band that way
DLR i'll give props to but not my favorite by a mile
                            Hetfield about a 7 out of 10
SRV again not a frontman as in the Reverend BFG
                            Thorogood about a 5 out of 5
Johnson, while not Scott is good but not in the same category
Bon Scott was the man. second only to, again, Freddy Mercury

BTW my votes/beliefs don't count as i'm not a plumbing expert just a lowly drain cleaner

this has been a fun thread
