  • Boiler shuts off before thermostat temp reached.

My oil fired burner shuts off as soon as the temperature in the boiler is reached instead of when the thermostat temperature is reached. Any ideas on why this is happening.

That's the way it's supposed to work. The burner is controlled by the boilers water temperature and will come on when it drops back to it's low limit setting. The hot water circulates through your home until it lowers the boilers temp...and it will fire up again and again until the thermostat is satisfied.

You are not supplying enough information. The boiler control should have a high limit switch so that is does not heat the water too high, therefore the boiler could turn off or cycle off before the thermostat call for heat is satisfied. More importantly is if the circulator is actually working sending the heated water to that zone. Do you feel the heat coming back on the return side, can you hear or feel the circulator running?
