  • Proper transition?

We almost NEVER see copper DWV in our area.

What would be the proper transition from copper DWV to PVC?

    Thanks.

JC, we have copper DWV all over the place here. 4" copper drains, copper vents and waste. It was the standard until PVC/ABS took over.

It's a mix here, but I know a guy that STILL does Durham *threaded* connections every time he does the conversion. It works, it takes work against those rubber booted connectors that he despises.

But even though they are code, and he's not even a licensed plumber, he prefers that connection over anything that's quick.

I just ran into copper vent 2 weeks ago for the first time that I can remember anyway on residential. Usually have everything I need on the truck but not the proflex band, had to make a trip.

Proflex or Mission brand.Specify Copper X pvc
as the copper has a smaller o.d.
                I keep a few 1 1/2 copper X 1 1/2 pvc transition bands
                on the truck.

Thanks Jay. I guarantee you there is not a proper ProFlex coupling around here for this. I'll have to find it soon.

Got a bucket full of "Mission" brand.
Want me to mail a couple to ya?
                      Need a 2" C/I to 1 1/2" tubular?

                      Is Proflex a Ferguson/Proflow brand .
If I was doing a big job I don't know if I'm 100% confident in the quality, funny things start showing themselves with 30' of head pressure.

Thanks. Much appreciated. I'll see what I can find locally first. "Mission" brand bands are available but I don't know if anyone locally carries some that specifically state on the use sticker for DWV Copper. I've only used them for PVC to CI transitions.

Job looks like 1.5", 2", and 3" DWV copper.

Checked everywhere locally. Not one in town. I can order and get them pretty quickly though.

                          Thanks for all the help.

That's what we use too, although, dunbar's idea of threading them rocks, and using the old school durham methods are way better in my opinion than any piece of rubber.
