I have a floor drain in the basement laundry room tha my utility sink drains into via a rubber hose. Is there a way to install a pvc fitting into the 3" cast iron in the floor so I can pipe the sink in instead of the hose? I'm getting tired of mopping up the suds from it overflowing!

    Re: floor drain

You could break up the floor and locate the main sewer line and go from there but what might work easiest in your case is locate the vent from your floordrain that should run up a nearby wall and cut in a san tee into the vertical vent. We call this a wet vent in the trade and it should work fine in your situation. The vent should be at least a 2'' for this to be legal in the upc code. But would probably work fine if its just an 1-1/2".
