        its a code thing in florida up until this year if u have a septic, water and sewer must be 10' from each other or sleeved but no closer than 2' if out on property. if under building water can cross over drainage with a minimum of 1' clearance but not parallel in same ditch. inspector informed me the other day if drainage is pvc they can run in same ditch as of this year. if is going to a sewer utility system water and drainage must be 5' apart. the health department and state plumbing code conflict but each county decipher them a little different.

          Similar rules apply to buried electrical conduit in many areas (including mine, much to my dismay - I hate digging trenches). PVC has to be significantly deeper than EMT or ridgid conduit.

              It gets worse, if there is hardscape it just needs to have enough dirt to protect the pipe from the hardscape.
