  • Air Chambers

Customer installed laundry box and shower faucet without arrestors. Banging noise when closing valves. All finished on tiles, will do too much damage if open walls now. Electric water heater in closet - no room for an expansion tank (but I don't think it will do any good anyway) but will aleviate the problem if 18" air chambers be installed in cold and hot lines at the WH?

    Thanks!

I believe Sioux Chief makes screw on ones that can go at the washer box.

    Good luck.

This shows some. It's hard to say definitely arrestors will solve a noise problem, but often do. (.pdf file)

turn one supply off at a time. only one may be a problem. i used the sioux chief ones on my sons house, worked. didn't work an mine. went to supply house and got ones about the size of a cantaloupe, it worked. only buy one and try it. if it doesn't work, you aren't out so much. the bigger they the more they cost. this should be rectified as it can beat the plumbing apart. then you will get to open the wall, the ceiling, the floor and whatever. breid...............
