Great idea ! Also epoxy a magnet a couple of inches in from the Hooked end. Happy fishing.

Was this in a private home, or some type of commercial office/building?

To me it looks like it might be a "Dental Hand Piece"

Make a hook or loop and have it sticking out of a piece of PVC with the cable comming up inside ... Use it like an animal Noose

Most likely a meth pipe I get them all the time :-(

bill, this is what i tried to explain to you yesterday, but with a piece of pex instead so you can make the closet bend and san tee

                    What exactly are you proposing?

Ok, so I use a piece of say 3/8" PEX with an electricians fishtape inside. On the end of fishtape I make a hook. I push PEX up to object guided by the MicroDrain and snatch it with fishtape? Then lock it to PEX while pulling back?

This sounds like some medieval vascular surgery

                      Re: Identify this

Locate it, brace the stack, cut it with a sawzall, grab it, put it all back together.

                      Rinse, repeat.

                        very close bill

a snare would be with a piece of 1/8'' aircraft wire with a loop that's guided through the pex tubing. problem is you will need to lasso it and that might be difficult.

the other way, better way is to slide a fish tape through the pex, heat the end and make a nice loop that you could then hook the item and slide the tape back tight to the pex, then you could hook and grab the mystery item

problem is the pipe is located in the apartment below and the cabinet would have to be removed from the wall.

i say snare it and videotape it with the microdrain.

if it drops, you grab it at the basement or slab.

the management company needs to know the options and what might be involved if all else fails

Yup, syringe is what I see too. Actually as odd as this is, with the bent head on it it almost looks like a syringe the orthodontist gave me when I had my wisdom teeth removed to flush out the sockets.

That's a picture of it. I think that's what is in your drain.

Either that or some sort of skinnier needle with a bent metal part.

                              I dunno what it is, but it looks pretty easy to hook out of there and find out;

1/2" cable, big open softish wire spiral cone retriever, shove tool in first, stop short, put cam in behind, get a few winds of the spiral around it, pull cam back out of harms way, yank her back and find out what it is.
This is my reminder to myself that no good will ever come from discussing politics or religion with anyone, ever.
