    The MicroDrain found this gem

Past 2 years we've had repeated stack stoppages in this 4th floor walkup apartment. This thing is located in a 4" stack just out of reach with my 6 foot closet auget. It's lodged in there tight. My snake cable can grab it but can't pull it up or push down. Not sure I even want to. I'd like to remove it. So that means cutting into the 100 year old cast iron stack below.

Anyone want to speculate what this is and how did it go through the toilet?

    Re: Identify this

The glare from the light on the camera makes it tough to see really well getting closer with less light intensity would have helped but I'll guess at it being an angle stop that someone dropped into the line and it didn't go through a toilet.

      Angle stop, good guess!

This is what I got with the light turned down. Still get the glare and not much more detail. I couldn't manipulate the camera to see the other end. Looks like it's just resting on the lip of a joint.

          just a thought,
can you take a head that will attach to your cable and weld it on to an arbor that will accept a hole saw, and use the cable (drain machine to run the hole saw and saw it out?
if the hole saw should be able to be guided by the pipe. similar to using a root saw.

k-60 with the spiral root saw running in reverse will definatly grab that, but most likely drop it down stream.

i'm voting for a glow stick that's still glowing.

This looks kinda like a hypodermic needle to me. I have seen them in toilets before and caught in stacks in cast. Dam Meth Heads

I was thinking maybe a razor?

What if it falls 4 floors only to be stuck again? Then the whole building will be behind it. That could lead to disaster

Leave your camera in the drain and use an electrical snake . I bent my end so that I can push it in and twist it to grab and pull the item back. I think electricians call it a fish tape. Mine is 25 feet long.
