  • Post about Defective Thermal Expansion Tanks

Wasn't there a post about someone having a rash of thermal expansion tanks going bad?

I was curious if it was the Cash Acme brand. I did numerous searches under keywords and couldn't find it.

Yesterday I replaced a water heater and probably not even 2-3 years ago I replaced the thermal expansion tank on this water heater.

When I inspected the tank, a water bubble blister was noticed with a very small stream of water coming from it. Defective of course.

I tell my customers that the average on these tanks are 5-9 years, given many variables. 2 years? I went ahead and replaced it at no charge.

Wouldn't of felt good charging for that, knowing that the product should of lasted far longer than 2 years.
