quick question, I have not had a plumber come to do a home repair in many years - I had the copper pipes (both hot & cold) in my kitchen develop a leak after about 15 yrs since the kitchen was renovated - back at that time they had to splice the hot & cold copper tubing, connecting the 2 sections of copper pipe with some type of compression fitting from what I could tell (don't know alot about plumbing). Well they started dripping and leaking slowly recently, and I asked a good contractor friend of mine who he recommended and used for his plumbing work. So I called that plumber last night, & he came out 1st thing this am & fixed it very nicely, redid all the fittings and installed all new connections, took about 30-45 minutes of work time once he got here (he works with another guy so there were 2 men here). I am sure nowdays they have to charge you some kind of trip charge too. Anyhow, I asked him what I owed and he said $125. I didn't know if that was out of line or if it was about right on the money, considering hourly rates & trip charges nowday. I don't know how much the new 1" copper compression fittings, nuts, hardware all cost. Can some experienced plumbers out there tell me if the charge was reasonable or not? Thanks alot.
