If price is the same which one is better? Why?

Viega's aluminum coated pex looks tops to me. but it's more expensive.

Uponor makes a solid product too.

We don't get to use pex too often in IL yet, so I have limited experience

You can keep you plastic pipes. To be honest I seen the Viega at the Roadshow, i was impressed with the fittings and stainless crimp rings. As Swade says the aluminum coated pex is impressive, better UV protection and less of a chance of a rodent chewing threw it.

The Roadshow was a good time indeed

Ron- The original poster stated in another thread that copper doesn't last long in his area.....not sure as to why. Hoping he or another member from TX can enlighten us northern folk.

I heard the same issue in Florida. I think its the water quality. If I had my way we all would still be plumbing homes in galvanized pipe.

It's hard to answer your question with a simple answer.

Both are good systems, but they both have their quirks.

Uponor fitting have far less flow restriction than the Viega fittings do.

Of all the crimped fittings, I like the Viega system the best out of the ones i've seen

If you were to install Viega, I would increase pipe size wherever possible to maintain good flow.

Alot of this problem is reduced by installing a manifold which will reduce fittings in the wall, as well as many other advantages.

Do you have a specific application in mind?
