  • toilet question?

after i flush a toilet at work, the bowl fills up to the normal level, but then the water level slowly drops to right above the hole. it's an industrial model american standard with the auto flush. what makes the water level drop?

If can be siphoned by improper vent, it can be wicked out slowly if a rag or some paper is stuck across the weir.

Are you sure the final level is not the "normal" level.

Before you flush it, slowly pour a gallon of water in. Does the water level rise and stay there, or does it maintain that low level?

      Weird weir.
      Siphoned, wicked, or crack.
I'd take an educated guess - but I'm unqualified.

it's leaking internally. replace it if it's bothersome enough.
