  • Sealing toilet water supply pipes to floor

The toilet water supply pipes in my house come up through the floor. Is it OK to caulk the pipe to the floor so in case the toilet overflows, I don't get water in the basement? The only reason I ask is to make sure nothing in the caulk fould affect the copper pipe.

I would have preferred to have the supply pipes come through the wall but I didn't build the house and do not want to change the plumbing.

Caulk is fine. Make sure pipe has no movement.
Add an escutcheon to finish off the job.

Thanks for the info! I just wanted to be sure nothing in the caulk would affect the copper pipe.

There is already an escutcheon plate and the shutoff valve is so close to the floor, I will need to caulk it from below.
