15 minutes. I feel very confident they will be lost. I've already sent it to one. Haven't heard from them.

I'll get it. I just know I will.

If you look close in the pic you can see my reflection.

I think that's the same shirt I'm always wearing.

              Re: Name that Faucet?

sometimes it's scary even taking the stems out, knowing you have nothing for it. i carry hundreds of seats and washers. but when it comes to ceramic, i only have the common ones.

so unless i know what it is and that i can get it apart without breaking, i usually warn the customer that it could get damaged.

the estucions sometimes require more than a strap wrench.

but taking a photo from inside the cabinet to see the valve bodies is usually useful

did you look with a mirror at the back of the spout

No, I didn't. I'll check there too. Thanks for the tip.

Im not sure who made that valve.

Looks like a old school hack installed it.

After you figure in all that goes into repairing that valve is it money well spent for the customer?

Would a nice new RTV be a better option?

Maybe. Also an option in the scenario. Thanks.

Won't be long and there will be a bar code cast into the valve. Just point your Iphone at it and BLING.....that's a Kohler ADS21424231324321313242-PB but the number has been changed to a Kohler BDS1435456343311235346232-7R and that's been.....

                            discontinued.

In the future we'll be able to find out things aren't worth a f@!k real fast.

Depending on it's age, the faucet could have rising stems.

Good point, but in this case the valve escutcheons have external lock nuts on top which thread into the valve body.

If you go this route, make sure the plater gives it a bullet proof coating over the brass.

Could be your best move in the long run. Problem is finding a close match. I checked Phylrich, Kohler and a few others; nada. Also, do you have an access door on the wall below the faucet? Could get messy without one.

I have an old Broadway parts book I will look at monday to see if the design matches anything. But either some trim is missing, or someone replaced the stems with a longer version because the short version is no longer available?? Does guillens really still stock all those stems???

I guarantee that faucet did not look geeky like that originally
