  • ADA Toilets & Seat Bidets?

I'm about to do a remodel for a person that is about 400lbs. with health issues related & possibly not related to the weight.

We are planning typical things to make using everything in the bathroom as easy as possible.

I was wondering what some consider good ADA toilets & Bidet Seats currently?

Both have come up in the past so I could search (even though I'm not that good at it on this site) but opinions & products change.

    So any input is appreciated.

    Thanks.

At 400 lbs I would prefer a one piece toilet. Unfortunately they don't have as good a MaP rating as the two piece toilets of the same model. They have good ratings (800) but not as good (1000 out of possible 1000) as the two piece.

Wouldn't normally be an issue except I have found in my experience that people in poor health on various medications generally have larger stools than normal.

Saysflushable can better advise you on the bidet seat of course, but I have a customer in the 300 lb range and the ToTo bidet seat handles him just fine. Get one with the remote control though, because the side controls get covered by the flab.

Also, don't plan on putting a bidet seat on a Champion 4 without expecting to do some creative bolt/bracket installation. I'm just saying.....

Pretty good Rick. Especially for you.

Are the electronicy bidet seats reliable? I don't like electronics on my plumbing.

Re: ADA Toilets & Seat Bidets?

toto electric seats are reliable and i have a few customers that go back 20 years with a toto. the seat is still working. old school seat with the side heated tank. not the newer tankless instant heater.

ours is 2.5 years old now, but has only seen action for the last 6 months. works like a charm

not sure if the payoff will ever happen. $800.00 is a lot of tp to go through

At 400 lbs I would prefer an open trough. At 400 lbs. how do you get the hole centered over the hole?

Are toilet bidet seats rated for 400 lbs?
                      Are they big enough?

Someone like that could better use a REAL bidet with douche spray like the Kohler I.nstalled in my house.
Has flush rim and popup drain to retain water up to the overflow.
I'd take an educated guess - but I'm unqualified.
It ain't just soot, it's paydirt.

Is any toilet seat even rated for that weight.

Are either of them weight rated at all for that matter?

The Kohler bidet looks very strong.
But I could see someone like that causing it to fail and they being sliced by the sharp bowl and bleeding to death.

I was also considering a Clinical Service Sink with seat made from 2x6s.
I'd take an educated guess - but I'm unqualified.

I'd stay away, far away from wall hung toilets

Does anyoneven do a residential wall-hung toilet anymore?
Must it be a 2x6 studded wall?
