Re: Can I replace my air gap with an air gap faucet?

the airgap of a dishwasher is to prevent a cross connection between the potable water and waste water.

under the right conditions, a plugged up drain backing up would flow into the dishwasher and if the dishwasher is filling with water/ solenoid open, a drop in pressure could siphon waste back into the potable water system.

i find it hard to believe as dishwasher also have an air gap on the fill line to the tank.

some of the high end european machines have backflow protection built into the fill line.

as far as commercial kitchens go. any sink that is used for food prep, requires an indirect waste line. thus preventing any stoppage from the building from getting back up into the sink.

I think that i may have found a solution:
        http://www.aquahealthsystems.com/watergapfaucet.html

looks like it'll work, but it doesn't say anything about the inlet/outlet size or have a picture.

Edit: Nevermind, it looks like they no longer sell them!
go to multi-pure they have one you can
use without changing your sink top setup it goes on the existing faucet
