  • Sump Pump runs dry

First, thanks for your help! This forum is great, but I am not sure I have my question answered from reading others posts.

    Here is my situation.

I live in a flood prone area, and we are currently flooding. That said, my house has been here for 80 years so it's common.

My sump is working all day, it runs a cycle and it takes about 10 seconds to empty then will kick on again in 3-5 minutes when its full.

My problem is that about every 4th or 5th cycle it will run for about 5 minutes instead of the 10 seconds it usually takes.

I've read that maybe the switch is bad or the floater is stuck or something. But would this be the case if it runs normal cycles so often inbetween long ones?

    Thanks again for your help
