Maybe the urinals have leaks. Usually, when it's a waterless urinal, it shouldn't be smelly. Another thing is maybe they dont maintain waterless urinals the way it should be.

Could it be thathey are using water which dries leaving minerals on the surface to which some urine adheres?
I did not see any leaks.
I'd take an educated guess - but I'm unqualified.

Well these pics are from Where Am I,he had the pleasure of removing the waterless urinals and fixing the waste lines that got rotted due to the lack of water flushing the lines clean.

And if codes would of spec'd L for DWV instead of M 45 years ago, it would be very rare to see hardly any copper toilet or trap arms shot. M in my opinion is just too paper thin for DWV in plumbing.

Anytime I have a customer wanting the same copper back, it's going in with L type pressure pipe. It'll outlive me for sure.

That job was done in L copper. And it only lasted about three years. 32 or 33 month I don't
            remember

Wow! I didn't know uric acid would cause that much damage.
So only ABS or PVC can be used?
Thicker pipe would be no advantage because it would justake longer to gethrough thicker copper.
