the walls around the sump pump hole are eroding and have washed out about 6 inches deep underneath the concrete floor. Can I simply plug this in with cement?

I think that would probably work for now, but it sounds like that may only be a temporary fix...

    How old is the hole?

That's an old hole, mine is 48.

Why not line it with a new sump bucket?

When my hole gets to be 52, I'm planning on trading it in for two 26 year olds!

I don't think the missus will take too kindly to that.... Kinda like trying to downgrade from wife 1.0 back to Girlfriend 8.0. Not backwards compatible.

I guess I am having a hard time picturing the problem you have. You should throw a pic up of the problem.
