  • Becoming difficult to flush Mansfield MPP 160 May, 2000

Much resistance to overcome before flush tube(?) releases and floats up.
This toilet does not have a flapper.

I ran my finger on the rubber washer/gasket seal thathe flush tube sits on athe bottom of the tank.
    Only slightly less resistance, now.
(Amazed at how much black is released into the water when barely touching the black rubber tank seal.)

    Suggestions?

    Thank you.
I'd take an educated guess - but I'm unqualified.
It ain't just soot, it's paydirt.

How about replacing that flush valve seal?

Can I find one for an 11-year-old Mansfield?

        Absolutely. There's only two kinds.

One is black and fits on the bottom of the flush "tower'.

The other is either gray or red and fits on the bottom of where the flush valve sits.

If you take the old one to the supply house you should be able to match it.

If not, let me know and I'll send you one. (Take a pic).

There is a 208 & 210 flush seal,208 is a full size on bottom of tower,210 looks like a ring.
And they can stick when they get old.

you can also install a generic flush valve in that same hole.
No, it's not rocket science, it's plumbing and unlike rocket science it requires a license.
