  • Yet another re-route the vent pipe

I want to install a recessed mirror in my bath and when I opened the wall I found a 3" vent pipe running right up the spot where it would go. Starting at the bottom, there is just barely enough room to take a 90 right turn go about 5 inches to the right, then 90 deg up about 3 feet, then a 90 deg left turn about 5 inches, then 90 deg back into the exit pipe at the top. Basically go around the right side of the opening like a backwards C. The first horizontal turn at the bottom is 6 inches above the highest sink top tied into the vent.

    Sound OK?

    thanks,
steve - panicking because the recessed mirror cabinet has already been shipped and it matches the vanity.

Any way you could draw this up or take a picture? May help in answering the question.

Hi, if it is a 2x4 wall that the vent is in, you won't be able to get any fittings in the wall. If it is 2x6, then you have no problem.
Sounds like quite abit of work to put in the med. cab.

If you have to keep the cabinet. You could get a 3" filler panel the same finish as the vanity & wrap the cabinet.

It's a 6 inch wall so there is room width and depth. Vertical space is tight because of adding the bends. I've scheduled a plumber in the morning to prep the shower so I'll have him do it if legal.

          It's currently like this:

          I
          I
          I
          I
          I
          I

And I want to change it to this:

          i
          l---
          I
          I
          I---
          I

          Thanks

          Steve

            Text pic didn't work :-)

Middle i's should be indented to the right.

I'd take an educated guess - but I'm unqualified.
It ain't just soot, it's paydirt.
