  • Taking my SeeSnake camera Fishing

Before long, the big Stripers will be coming up the Chesapeake Bay. I had a hair-brained idea of attaching my camera to a line I'm trolling. This way I can see how the fish are reacting to the bait and maybe record one as he bites. Man! that'll be a first!

Prolly have to keep the lights turned off as not to spook them. A little worried that a Bluefish might come chomping on the camera head

    Crazy?...yes?..no?...

Hmmmm, I'm not a big ice fishing fan but I wonder if the SeeSnake would work as a camera for that? Anyone know what depth the camera head is rated to be water proof? Also, is there a better camera head that is compatiable with the SeeSnake that originally sold at HD for 200.00? I have one, but the camera seems to be kinda weak (I swear it use to be alot clearer when I got it).

That would be cool to attach it to a trolling line, but man, it would have to be with in a couple feet of the bait I would think to be able to see it. It would probably drag on the bottom unless you attaached some type of floatation device to it. Might want to look into the legality of doing that as well? Since it does have a light on it, there might be rules against that, no idea though.

Didn't think about the legallity of it. I'm sure there are rules against night fishing with a light. There is no shortage of fishing regulations here and they constantly change year to year. I think that trolling in the 3-5 knot range would keep it off the bottom and close enough to the surface to gather some natural light. The specs on the camera say it's rated to a couple hundred feet.

I can't wait to try this out!

i actually bought a harbor freight black and white underwater camera system a number of years back. if i remember correctly it has 65' of cable on a weighted submarine.has a 5.5'' battery operated monitor. i was going to adapt this for larger storm drains, but never did.

it's brand new and waiting for it's maiden voyage.

i think i know what bill is getting for his 50th. birthday

        rick.

        found it http://www.harborfreight.com/underwa...tor-91309.html

Those are both toys. If you want a good camera get an Aqua-Vu. We use them for ice fishing around here and have had some very large Northern Pike take bites out of the camera that looks like a fish. It's like watching a horror flick, scares the heck out of ya when it happens. LOL

Now you are talking, Ranger. I have crappies come up and kiss the camera. I would rather that they would bite on my hook, tho.

It you have an extra downrigger on your boat, I think a camera would be slick.
