  • How does a water recirculator work?

I've been looking at some diagrams but I don't understand how the water gets back to the tank.
The drawings show the hot water circulating back through the cold water line to the tank. But isn't that water under pressure coming the other way in the cold water line? I don't see how it can work without a dedicated pipe returning the water.

Goggle Grundfos comfort systems. Takes about 1 hr. to install. No Sweating copper to instal! You use Your original Hot N cold water. So simple a cave Girl can install it ! About $300.00 Had 1 in our Home about 10 Years, Love It and sell these often.
I can build anything You want , if you draw a picture of it , on the back of a big enough check .

Veiga makes an internal recirc line for large applications that runs through the hot supply line its a propress adaptor and 3/8" pex goes inside the main hot water riser. But i dont thnk that was the application this guys talking about.

They are using the cold as a HW return. Good for the HD crowd.
Now you can wait for the CW to get cold instead of the HW to get hot. Where's the savings??

This was the problem I always had with them. As well as a probable cross-over someday. But I guess you'll save a few pennies - cold water is cheaper than hot, but the offset is the electricity used... makes my head hurt.
