  • building sewer question

    Hi,

I've read differing info on this. Does the 4" main drain exiting a house remain at 4" all the way to the city sewer at the street or does it increase to 6" before joining the city sewer?

    Thanks.

    Re: building sewer question

in some areas it can increase to 6'' but not normally before city's tap. 4'' pipe will do max of 216 dfu's @ 1/4'' slope.......... that's ALOT! Way more than is in the majority of residential applications

      Re: building sewer question

99% of everything out (los angeles and surrounding cities) here transition to 6'' at the city sidewalk / property line. continues 6'' to the city saddle. 99% of the 6'' is clay pipe.

most of the mains run center line of the street or alley. unless the street/ alley has a turn.
