  • Problem replacing bathtub faucet

I've been trying to replace my bathtub faucet with a Waltec 14F525. I have taken off the handles and silver faceplate, and unscrewed the shower part in the middle. I have loosened the nuts right against the wall, and as far as I can understand, the whole thing should now come off, but it doesn't seem to want to. It feels loose on either side, like it might be free, but the middle section still feels tight. I can't seem to find anything holding it in the middle, but I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Without pictures it's hard to say. But a lot of valves are installed from behind and may be screwed or otherwise attached to the framework. Also, the shower riser or tub spout piping may hinder replacement.

Thanks for your reply. I just wanted to mention in case it helps anyone else...I was able to get the whole contraption off eventually. It was quite corroded, and so it took some jiggling and twisting, but soon one piece came free and then the other two.
