  • Connecting electric water heater to CPVC

Can I use a female CPVC adapter directly to the galvanized nipples on the electric water heater?

yes, but i would suggest CPVC unions for ease of future work.

Thank you for that advice. One other question. My water heater will be on the same level as the fixtures it supplies. Should I use a vacuum breaker?

i dont like the all cpvc female adapters,,,,ive seen a lot of split ones,,,,,,, i would recommend the brass female adapters with a built in cpvc ,,,a transition fitting so to speak.

It's always better to thread male plastic into a female fitting, preferably brass in this case.
