Just had a new main line put in a week ago. Since then I have had 3 separate backups at 3 different times. 1St kitchen sink, took regular hand snake.and after that fine but didn't pull any debris out. Then 1 St floor toilet . Plunged and was fine. Now upstairs bathroom toilet goes.down but backs up into shower. Prior to flushing had took a 10 min shower no back up. Any ideas?

    Re: backups

Could be coincidental, but a sink is a 2" line and a toilet is a 3" sometimes a 4" line.

Depending on the distance you snaked to clear it, you would know if the stoppage was anywhere common to eachother.

More info about the job and the fix would help. What did the plumber who replaced the main think?

I was thinking air. When they replaced the main they had to break into foundation to put in a new line. the only thing that changed was th right where the line leaves the house it was a 4 and now it's a 3. I haven't called the guy who did it yet. Was hoping to just fix myself.

That can't be right. Plumbing should never be reduced in size.

... it was plumbed by Ray Charles and his helper Stevie Wonder

I wish the hell somebody would have told that to the contractor that was digging up the street & partially replacing 6" clay lines with 4" cast here in my city in the 1980's.

This one had to be dug up.

            Another busted my root saw
