  • to check or not to check?

Okay folks I've got a question. Went to apt today complaint of not hot water. Noticed water heater was heating but also hooked into heating system. So I go in apt turn on heat and voila I've got hot water at faucets. So I have not dealt with these a lot so should I install check valve? where? at water heater? swing or spring? Thanks for any info

In my area, hot water tanks can be used for space heating and potable water but not with one unit in the same system (not a single tank for both heat and potable). Also, lots of tanks are not designed for space heating, it'll say so on the rating sticker usually.

Sounds like there is a cross-over someplace and the pump overrides the problem,

No they are made to go this way you need to check for a priority switch, for hot water use versus heating
