I have a gas fired deep fryer and my pilot keeps going out.

Should I start off by changing the thermocouple for starters??

      Always start with the simplest...

      And go from there.

Thermocouples are cheap and that's a good place to start. You can also buy testers for them.

Is the fryer in an area where there is a lot of air movement. Maybe the pilot is getting blown out.

You could also check your gas pressure. What does the flame look like when it's lit?

      Dave, the plumber dude.
