As recently as three months ago I was dinged by an inspector in orange county for using a 2" no-hub band on an ABS to CI transition.

Isn't cast iron and plastic the same outside diameter. The transition bands we use say ci pl to k or ci pl to ci pl.

The bands I use are usually made by Mission, Anaco, or elsewhere and listed as cast iron no-hub couplings. Keep in mind that I work in large scale commercial construction. I order no hub couplings by the hundreds, if not thousands. Bands rated for "cast iron X plastic" are more expensive. If I was running a repair truck, it would make sense to stock the more versatile couplings, but in my situation, the dollars add up for more expensive couplings, and are ordered per need.
