    2" is a lot, so cut an expansion joint, lets say 4' or more away and do as I said in my other post. Rent a saw to cut slab and get some sand, you'll be done in 2 hrs. Its actually pretty simple. Get some help, like a BIL or friends, since you have a bad back. If you hire out to a contractor, I personally would charge around $450.00-$500.00 to come in and do the work. It could run more, depending on area.

      Now I understand what you were saying, garager. I don't know why it wasn't registering berfore. Maybe I have what you hae, plumberscrack - LOL! Tapering the sand should be pretty easy. We did a lot of sand tamping and measuring when we were setting the base for our above ground pool. I think the hardest part of the sidewalk will be getting the help coordinated. In the days of a better back I wouldn't hesitate to try this with one other guy. Many thanks, folks. I believe that I've got this one handled, thanks to you!!
