  • interlock stone ors ashphault driveway first?

For the finaly of a 5 year renovation project i will be paving the driveway and doing some interlocking stone pathways.
Is it best to do the interlock first, then pave up to it, or pave first the saw cut the ashphault and then butt the interlocking stone up to it?

If it were me, I would do the driveway (asphalt) first. If you want the pathways and the driveway to come out at the same grade, let them lay and compact the driveway then grade your pathways to the same elevations.

I would do the pavers first. As long as they are reasonably close to the same grade, it is a simple matter to shape and prep the base and match the asphalt to the pavers. This will be seamless and there will not have to be any filling in after the pavers are laid. A patch is a patch. Also make sure you inform your contractor of your plans and that it is spelled out on the estimate.
