  • Question About Sill on Slab

I just finished laying the sill down for the exterior walls for a shop on a concrete slab. Now I was wondering, do i need to lay a sill down for interior walls or can I just get away with PT bottom plate?

    Thanks, Fuller

For the price of undersill, Just put it on.

But I think the NBC says you have to put undersill. But for PT im not sure. My books are at work. will check tomorow.

Yeah as per the Canadian National Building Code

        9.23.2.3

        1) Wood framing members that are not PT with a wood preservative and that are supported on concrete in contact with the ground or fill shall be seperated from the concrete by not less than 0.05mm polyethylene film or type s rool roofing.

So i guess the awnser is no ... But when I do a basement i use PT for my plate and i put a sill gasket...

But the NBC is just bare minimum
