  • Can I resize a door by 2"?

I have a 32" x 80" pre-hung Jeld-Wen interior door that requires a 34 x 82.25 rough opening. I have a 34 x 80.5 opening, and I can't change it. Can I cut 2" inches off the six-panel door and the jamb? It's not a hollow core door. Thanks in advance for any help on this -- and Happy New Year.

Yes. As stated you cut the door at the bottom. Then you pry the facing off the filler you cut off so that you can reinstall it. Just make sure you measure about four times at least or you're going to have some large gaps to fill.

Thanks. I did this. The 2" that came off the Jeld-Wen was solid pine. The structure of the door was maintained. Then I cut down the stiles by the same amount and it fit. Thanks all.
