  • Water Rams are they any good?

    Guys and Girls
I was thinking of buying a water ram are they any better than those plastic gun things which you pump up ( I bought one off ebay 2 years ago).
If they are I would expect they would only be any good on shower/basin bends etc.
    Regards

I use my water ram as a last resort. Tubs that can't be snaked because of a tee. It usually just pokes a hole in the hair but if it gets the drain flowing and nobody will pay for what is really needed the water ram is great. Good extra tool to have but it can also blow apart weak lines and cause extra work.

I agree it a last resort. I have one as as well.

just my 2 cents but make sure their is water in the line to help open the line.

        the general kinetic water ram.

sounds good until you try it. then be prepared to get wet and dirty

the blast of air is going somewhere. either down or at you.

i retired mine after a couple of uses.

I have one and can't remember the last time I used it. Always try to snake first... and Plummer Rick made a good point... know what drains are connected to what your trying to blast....

The only thing I can add is try not to pump it up to it's max 125lbs,... unless you want to replace the plumbing.

i worry about blowing out an old awx seal if the pressure is too high. how many toilets over the years i have lifted and the wax is barley making a seal
how is it that so many answers are in the instructions

i have a cheeep one and it does work but i wouldnt use it on a kitchen sink or a bath blasting in via the plug hole and ive had the overflow come to bits on me before

disconnect and blast it in via the waste pipe or snake it either way ive had sucess with both
