  • Galvz.1.5 trap with c/o plug

How do you all unclog these? This one had not been cleaned in over 20 yrs.The kit. sink line was the same way,Full of Hard Black Muck the length of the runs and had been draining very slow over several years according to the owner. I was trying to post a picture of this trap, but it's either the camera's fault or operator error. Most likely operator. LOL.

Thanks All Clear, what size cable?5/16? I have always used a k-50 with 5/8" cable and have been thinking of buying a k-39 since it seems to be highly rated. On a side note_are you based in Kansas city? If so do you know Jeff at Key Equipment?I purchased an old Myers jetter from him in late 1999,they all seemed to be good people.

Thanks. ALL CLEAR. My cousin lives in Wichita on English Street. Last time I was there 2 years ago, I enjoyed that city. I call it God's country, but I like everywhere I go so we all live in God's country! I always enjoy reading yours.plumber Rick's, and West Coast plumber postings.

If at all possible i would cut out the trap and use a no hub to plastic and re pipe it in PVC. Try to rod it while running warm water slowly down with it if you can. Once it is open fill up the sink bowls to the top to give it a good rinsing.

5/16" is a good call too!

In these situations I normally use my K-60 with 5/16 cables if I can access the pipes directly. Quite often I use my K-39 directly through plug holes ( if the trap style allows ) this is handy as pipe work doesnt have to be disassembled and water can be slowly turned on to help assist with blockage removal whilst drilling.

Re: Galvz.1.5 trap with c/o plug

I put my special tip bend on it, and run a 1/4" cable from my general super vee, I go from the top strainer down the tubular.

I do it on lavs also.

now, if I get back alot of muck, then I will drop the trap and run a 3/8 inner core, with a good bend, spartan machine of course.

                drum need I mention.

now, if I get back alot of muck, then I will drop the trap and run a 5/8" sectional cable from the same Ridgid K-50 machine of course.

drum and sectional best of both worlds need I mention.

Sorry I was teasing Robert and using his post with my machine. However, what Robert was referring to when he said "my special tip bend" is a slight bend he puts on the end of his cable to help clean the walls of the drain and negotiate changes of direction..
