  • Quiz for senior plumbers

    I recently bought some c-8 cable and it's brand new in the box but very old. The box came with a draincleaning poster and I'm trying to figure out how old the cable is. Since the cable won't offer any clues, maybe the poster will, here's the machines on it;
    -k75a and b
    -k60 suitcase style
    -k-37
    -k500
    -k50
    -k5800
    -k6800
    -k1000
    -k2000
And finally, Robert Staley was president when this was printed. Anybody know? Mark gets to answer last.

48 views and not one comment? I figured someone would think of a time when all these machines were used.

ben, i did a quick search and came up with this.

Robert Staley, BME '58, MBA '59, Chairman, Emerson Asia (retired)

      attended cornell university.

maybe fred, josh, wyatt, adam, steve d, steve m, matt, renee, dave, or some of the others at ridge can chime in

bet you fred would know. he is mr. kollmann

      rick.

So my poster and cable is at least 47 years old? Think the cable is still good?

That info shows what a time tested piece of equipment the k50 is. A tool whose design hasn't changed in over 40+ years and is still a top seller shows how well it was designed.

Sorry Ben I don't know that I can help you with this one. I believe my K-500 may predates the K-1500. I purchased my k-1500 in 1980. As far as Robert Staley goes I've seen Google results for him as president of Ridge Tool up until 1989.

BTW: Initially I was not going to answer because of that "senior" remark. However, I am now 55-years old and people offer me senior discounts so I guess it is what it is.
